The Mufti of the Tunisian Republic, Hicham Ben Mahmoud, announced in a statement released on Sunday evening that, based on lunar observation—while taking astronomical calculations into account for guidance in determining the start of lunar months—and given the impossibility of sighting the crescent moon on Sunday, 29 Rajab 1447 AH, corresponding to 18 January 2026, the beginning of the blessed month of Shaaban 1447 AH will be set for Tuesday, 20 January 2026.
