Museum Night : 18 Tunisian museums open late on March 13

The Agency for Heritage Enhancement and Cultural Promotion is organising the sixth edition of the “Museum Night” event. On this occasion, eighteen public museums will exceptionally open their doors to visitors in the evening on March 13, from 9:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

This edition will also feature the participation of the Centre for the Interpretation of the History and Monuments of the City of Tunis, which will likewise welcome the public as part of this nocturnal cultural rendezvous.

The event is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, on the initiative of the Agency for Heritage Enhancement and Cultural Promotion and in cooperation with the National Heritage Institute, within the framework of the cultural programme for the month of Ramadan.

The list of participating museums includes, in particular, the Bardo National Museum, the Early Christian Museum of Carthage, as well as the archaeological museums of Nabeul, Kerkouane, Sousse, Enfidha, Sbeitla, Makthar, Mahdia and El Jem.

Also open will be: the Ribat Museum, the Habib Bourguiba Museum in Monastir, the Djerba Museum of Traditional Heritage, the Sahara Museum in Douz, the Moknine Museum, as well as the National Museum of Islamic Arts in Raqqada.

According to a statement by the Agency, the initiative aims to broaden public access to museum institutions and to offer an evening cultural programme in various regions of the country, thereby enhancing the visibility of Tunisia’s national heritage and bringing it closer to citizens during the month of Ramadan.
