To mark Tunisia’s National Agriculture Day, the joint professional groups and the Office of State Lands, under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries, are organizing a special event titled “From Producer to Consumer”. This agricultural fair will take place in a dedicated tent on Avenue Habib Bourguiba in downtown Tunis, from Sunday, May 11 to Tuesday, May 13, 2025.
According to Tarek Tira, Deputy Director of Export Development at the Joint Professional Group for Fruits, a wide range of agricultural products will be sold during the event at the same prices found in wholesale markets, aiming to offer affordable and high-quality goods to the public.
The fair will feature participation from several joint professional groups representing fruits, dates, vegetables, meat, poultry, and seafood, in addition to the Office of State Lands. Around 20 exhibitors and agricultural producers are expected to present their goods over three days in a 450-square-meter tent.
Visitors will be able to purchase fresh seasonal produce, poultry, cheese, and fish directly from producers. Additionally, processed products made from peaches, apricots, dates, watermelon, and citrus fruits will be available, alongside natural juices (such as pomegranate and orange), various cheeses, white meats (chicken and turkey), eggs, and olive oil.
Tira emphasized that all participating producers have been instructed to maintain wholesale pricing, allowing consumers to benefit from preferential rates in celebration of National Agriculture Day—also known as the Agricultural Evacuation Day.
He concluded by encouraging citizens to attend the event in large numbers and take advantage of this opportunity to buy fresh, local agricultural products at highly competitive prices.
Tunisia celebrates National Agriculture Day each year on May 12, commemorating the country’s agricultural sovereignty following independence. This year marks the 61st anniversary of the Agricultural Evacuation, which took place on May 12, 1964.
