The National Council of Regions and Districts approved, this Wednesday, December 4, 2024, the draft finance law for the year 2025. With 65 votes in favour, 4 abstentions and 8 oppositions, this adoption marks a significant step in the Tunisian legislative process.
A first successful experience according to the President of the Council
The President of the Council, Imed Drebali, hailed this vote as a success for this new institution, which is undergoing its first experience of participating in the process of adopting such a crucial text. “Local representatives now have the responsibility to explain and clarify the provisions of this text to citizens,” he said.
A project at the heart of citizens’ expectations
This draft finance law, anticipated every year, sets the budgetary priorities for the coming year while reflecting the economic and social orientations of the government.
The mobilization of regional elected officials to validate this text emphasises the growing importance of decentralization in the Tunisian political landscape.
