Tunisia’s National Security Directorate has denied circulating reports on social media claiming that a security officer from the Sub-Directorate for Drug Control in El Gorjani was shot during New Year’s Eve operations following the dismantling of a drug trafficking network in southern Tunisia.
In an official statement, the Directorate confirmed that these claims are completely unfounded, stressing that all security units successfully secured the New Year celebrations under normal conditions, without recording any incidents of note.
The authorities also called on citizens and media outlets to rely solely on official security sources when seeking information, in order to avoid the spread of misleading news that could confuse public opinion.
