NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte said Monday that the US strikes against Iran did not violate international law.
The NATO secretary-general added that his “greatest concern is that Iran acquires a nuclear weapon,” as this “would serve as leverage on Israel and the entire region.”
Rutte said: “Regarding NATO’s position on Iran’s nuclear program, Allies have long agreed that Iran must not develop a nuclear weapon.”
He added: “Allies have repeatedly urged Iran to respect its obligations under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.”
Moreover, Reuters cited the UN Fact-Finding Mission on Iran as saying that the Israeli attacks “appear to have” violated international humanitarian law.
