New York Governor Andrew Cuomo affirmed on Monday that the state’s medical officials have reported the first infection with the new COVID-19 strain, which was originally discovered in Kent, England.
Cuomo added that the person infected with the virus’ new variant hadn’t travelled, which indicates “there is a community spread.”
The infection was detected in Saratoga County, the governor elaborated, and urged the public to take precautions, as “this UK strain is reported to be 70 percent more contagious.”
