Olaibi: “ Arab-Palestinian resistance will be more solid with Yahya Sinwar” [Video]

Speaking to Tunisie Numérique, thinker and researcher Farid Olaybi made a statement regarding recent developments on the Palestinian scene following the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh and the designation of Yahya Sinwar as the head of the political office of Hamas. Formerly, Sinwar was only the head of the Gaza office, but now his influence has grown to include Hamas’s activities in Gaza, the West Bank, the 1948 territories, and the diaspora.

Olaybi believed that this appointment may be understood as a preference for the military resistance line over diplomacy. This preference today means providing weapons over diplomatic efforts, particularly since the Zionist entity was negotiating with Haniyeh at the time of his assassination.

He added that this appointment likewise signifies a move away from the influence of the countries that were pressuring Hamas to align with their conditions in negotiations with the Zionist entity. Also, Hamas’s current openness will likely be towards the Syrian and Iranian axis, as well as the platforms of resistance in Iraq, Yemen, and Lebanon.

Our speaker affirmed that if we consider this perspective, the support for the positions of Palestinian Arab resistance will be stronger, and the relationship with the Zionist entity, America, and their allies in the region will become more strained. This indicates that a ceasefire with the entity and signing an agreement has become unlikely.
