North America’s first two cases of the new Omicron strain of COVID-19 have been detected in Ottawa, Canada, the government of Ontario announced in a statement.
The individuals that tested positive recently returned from Nigeria, according to the announcement.
The new strain, which is thought to be more transmissible, has already been detected in several Asian and European countries as well as in Australia.
