Patrice Laffont, star of “Fort Boyard” and “Pyramide”, has passed away

Patrice Laffont, a well-known TV host and producer known for presenting Fort Boyard in the 1990s and 2000s, passed away from a heart attack on the morning of Wednesday, August 7, at his residence in Oppède, Luberon. The news was confirmed by France Bleu and the local mayor.

The alarm was raised by the TV host’s wife. Born on August 21, 1939, in Marseille, Laffont would have turned 85 at the end of this month.

Laffont was a well-known television personality since the 1970s, most famously for hosting Des Numéros et des Lettres from 1972 to 1989, as well as Fort Boyard and Pyramide on Antenne 2 and later France 2 in the 1990s and 2000s. In the 1960s, he furthermore appeared in several plays and films, including a notable role as a young playboy in Le Gendarme de Saint-Tropez in 1964.
