Phenomenon of 7-Planet Alignment: Visible to the Naked Eye Starting Tonight

Beginning at 7:00 PM this evening, Wednesday, and continuing until the end of January, the Tunisian sky will showcase a rare celestial phenomenon known as the alignment of seven planets, or “planetary conjunction,” according to Hichem Ben Yahia, a scientific advisor at the City of Sciences in Tunis.

Ben Yahia explained in a statement to the Tunis Afrique Presse Agency that with improved weather conditions, some of these planets can be observed with the naked eye. He stressed that this scientific event, visible worldwide, occurs when more than three planets align in the sky along the same line as Earth.

He also recalled that in 2022, the world saw the alignment of eight planets, a phenomenon referred to at the time as the “Great Alignment.”

Tonight’s alignment will feature seven planets positioned from west to east: Saturn, Venus, Neptune, Uranus, Jupiter, Mars, and Mercury. While Neptune and Uranus cannot be seen without a telescope, the remaining planets will be visible to the naked eye. The peak of this alignment is anticipated on the night of January 21.

Ben Yahia clarified that this phenomenon does not have a direct impact on natural events on Earth, unlike the alignment of Earth, the Moon, and the Sun.

Keep an eye on the skies tonight for this spectacular cosmic event!
