A survey conducted by the CSA institute, published on Friday, revealed that 76% of French citizens believe the state should stop granting visas to Algerians wishing to come to France as long as Algeria refuses to take back its nationals expelled from the country.
According to the poll’s details, 75% of men and 76% of women agree with this measure.

Supporters of the National Rally (RN) are the most likely to back a halt to visas for Algeria (86%), followed by sympathizers of Les Républicains (81%) and those of Renaissance, the presidential party (77%).
While voters of the Greens and the Socialist Party also largely favor curbing visa issuance, with 72% and 71% support respectively, only 46% of those aligned with La France Insoumise approve of such a decision.
This debate was further fueled by the September 29 announcement regarding the increase in visas granted to Algerian students, reaching 8,351 in total—1,000 more than in 2024—a development that has deeply angered part of the political class.
The CSA institute specified that the poll was conducted on October 2 and 3 through an online self-administered questionnaire, with a nationally representative sample of 1,010 people aged 18 and over, using the quota method.
