Ports and logistics: CONECT unveils a digital platform for cargo dwell-time fees (video)

In a new step to support the modernization and digitalization of port and logistics services in Tunisia, the employers’ organization CONECT has announced the launch of the first digital platform dedicated to calculating cargo dwell-time and storage/guarding fees in Tunisian ports, through a unified website.

A digital platform to facilitate economic activity

The platform aims to simplify procedures for economic operators by enabling them to access the real costs related to keeping their goods inside the port, instantly and remotely. The initiative is intended to ease administrative pressure while saving time and reducing related costs.

Thanks to this new digital tool, operators can now calculate remotely the dwell-time fees for their goods in Tunisian ports, without having to travel to the port or wait to obtain the necessary information.
The platform also provides useful data, including the value of the goods and the number of days spent at the quay, helping improve financial planning and speed up decision-making.

A partnership with the Tunisian stevedoring and handling company

According to the information provided, the initiative is the result of cooperation between CONECT and the Tunisian Stevedoring and Handling Company. It is part of a broader effort to streamline processes, strengthen transparency around the costs of port services, support the business climate, and improve logistics efficiency.

    Towards a “federating” platform

Rim Abd El Kafi, Vice President of CONECT’s National Transport and Logistics Cluster, said the platform will see continuous development in partnership with the various stakeholders in the transport and logistics sector. The goal, she noted, is to turn it into a federating platform that allows economic operators and investors to access information in a simple and effective way.

The platform is expected to help improve service quality and reduce uncertainty surrounding applicable fees, thereby strengthening the performance of Tunisian ports and their role in supply chains, at a time when demand for digital solutions aligned with developments in trade and logistics continues to grow.
