President Kais Saied welcomed Mauritanian Minister of Economy and Finance, Sidi Ahmed Ould Abah, as a special envoy carrying a written message from the President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, during a meeting held today at Carthage Palace.
During the meeting, President Saied voiced Tunisia’s pride in the strong ties with Mauritania, which date back to the 1960s. He stressed Tunisia’s commitment to further enhancing these distinguished relations, reflecting the deep and sincere bonds of brotherhood between the two nations.
President Saied also underscored the significant challenges facing Africa amidst the rapid global changes, emphasising the need for African countries to seize the moment to reclaim their rightful place in the world. He called for overcoming the legacies of colonialism, wars, and crises to rebuild the continent with new approaches that reflect the unique characteristics and aspirations of African peoples.
The President underlined the significance of collective efforts and shared visions to address the economic and social challenges facing Africa. He urged the continent to harness its vast human and natural resources effectively, enabling African nations to play an influential role on the international stage.
He reaffirmed Tunisia’s pride in its African identity and reiterated calls for an Africa led by Africans. President Saied noted that the continent has endured much in the absence of a unified vision, and it is time to learn from history, rectify past mistakes, and pave the way for a brighter future for all African nations.
