Former tennis world number 1 Rafael Nadal announced on Thursday that he will retire at the end of the season.
Nadal noted he will end his career after the Davis Cup Finals in Malaga in November, where he plans to play for Spain. “The reality is that it has been some difficult years, these last two, especially. I don’t think I have been able to play without limitations,” Nadal said in a video posted on X, referring to his injury problems. He noted the decision to retire was a “difficult” one but stressed that he had a “long and much more successful” career than he could have imagined.
