One day it’s a truck (from the Ministry of Agriculture) carrying unprotected concrete blocks on a highway, another day a tractor—yes, a tractor—speeding down Route X loaded with cut branches, again with no rear barrier.
This time, it’s a heavy truck cruising along Route X at rush hour—around 8:30 a.m.—hauling a load of bricks.
As shown in this photo taken on October 2, the cargo is secured only by straps, with no side or rear barriers.
Just imagine the consequences if those straps were to snap for any reason. Human life, precious as it is, sometimes depends on something as fragile as a single strap.
Who is to blame?
First, the company that sold and loaded the construction materials.
Then the driver, who agreed to transport them under such conditions, disregarding every safety regulation. Responsibility also lies with the employer, who clearly failed to provide the driver with the necessary equipment to do the job properly.
A collective fault that fuels collective tragedies—day after day.
A poorly negotiated turn could spell disaster, a strap breaking could mean tragedy.
Every ingredient for catastrophe is present here, on a busy, high-speed road.
If the truck driver escapes danger today, he will likely do the same tomorrow and the day after—until the inevitable happens. Nothing will stop him but disaster itself, unless the traffic police intervene before it’s too late.
We have become so desensitized to reckless and irresponsible behavior on the roads that nothing shocks us anymore.
Yet, we must never stop raising the alarm, raising awareness, and shaking people out of complacency.
Who knows—someone might wake up from their lethargy.
If doing so can save even a single life, or prevent an injury that alters a life forever, then it is worth it. There are no small victories when it comes to protecting human safety.
