Russian war against Ukraine: Present situation (Ukrainian Embassy in Tunisia)

MILITARY ADVANCEMENTS OF UKRAINIAN ARMY
• On May 10, Russian troops crossed the state border of Ukraine and began hostilities in the north of the Kharkiv region. Now the defence in this region has been strengthened. Counteroffensive actions of the Ukrainian Defence Forces have begun: the Russian troops have been pushed back near Vovchansk, the clean-up is going in the northern part of the city.
• Russian forces, in the Kharkiv direction, incurs disproportionately large losses in personnel and military equipment. The means of fire damage are actively working. There is currently no threat of an offensive or an assault by the Russians on Kharkiv.

AMERICAN AID FOR UKRAINE
• U.S. State Secretary Anthony Blinken arrived in Kyiv on May 14.This is the first visit of a high-ranking U.S. official to Ukraine since the U.S. Congress passed theaid bill for Ukraine on 24 of April. State Secretary Blinken came to personally support the Ukrainians and assure of providing the necessary assistance to respond to the Russian escalation. Artillery, long-range missiles and anti-aircraft missiles as part of the U.S. program are already arriving in Ukraine.Ukraine needs some time from receiving of military aid to see an effect on the battlefield. But soon the strengthening will be felt.

GLOBALPEACESUMMIT
• Russia’s war against Ukraine has had a devastating impact for entire world. • The Global Peace Summit aims to achieve a just and lasting peace– a 10-point Ukraine’s peace Formula tackling critical issues like territorial integrity, energy independence, human rights. This plan is supported by over 80 nations, and Russia’s desperate attempts to disrupt it only expose their weakness and fear.
• While many African nations have remained neutral on the war in Ukraine. The Global Peace Summit presents an opportunity to take action for peace. Ukraine believes Africa’s voice is essential in building a strong, united front for peace.
