Safran plans to expand its operations in Tunisia and praises local talent

    On Tuesday, May 27, 2025, Tunisia’s Minister of Economy and Planning, Samir Abdelhafidh, met with Philippe Errera, Director of Global Affairs and Head of International Relations at the French group Safran, who is currently on a working visit to Tunisia.

    The meeting served as an opportunity to review the company’s activities in Tunisia and to explore new avenues for cooperation.

    Safran Highlights the Performance of Its Sites in Tunisia

    During the discussion, Philippe Errera presented a detailed overview of Safran’s operations in Tunisia, emphasizing the continuous growth the company has experienced in recent years.

    He outlined the group’s future programs, focusing on research, innovation, and carbon footprint reduction, and expressed interest in expanding operations in Tunisia and increasing the local integration rate in production processes.

    A Strong Local Talent Pool Recognized by the French Group

    Errera expressed satisfaction with the quality of Tunisia’s human resources, particularly highlighting the high level of skill among local engineers and technicians, which contributes to the strong performance of Safran’s sites.

    Currently, Safran operates three production facilities in Grombalia, Soliman, and Dhahri, employing nearly 3,500 people, including 700 engineers. These sites manufacture various components and equipment for civil aircraft and helicopters, supplying leading global aircraft manufacturers.

    Tunisian Government Committed to Supporting Industrial Investments

    Minister Samir Abdelhafidh reaffirmed the government’s readiness, along with all relevant investment bodies, to provide the necessary support and assistance for Safran to implement its development plans and expand its operations under optimal conditions.

    He highlighted the strategic importance Tunisia places on the aerospace components manufacturing sector, which has seen significant growth and is considered a priority in national investment strategies.
