Saïed bids farewell to Japan’s ambassador: Strong partnership and new horizons for cooperation

    President Kaïs Saïed received Japan’s Ambassador to Tunisia, Takeshi Osuga, on Monday, December 2, at the Carthage Palace, where the diplomat paid a farewell visit marking the end of his mission.

    During the meeting, the President praised the strength of Tunisian-Japanese relations and the progress achieved both bilaterally and through the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD). He highlighted the importance of the 2022 edition hosted in Tunis and Tunisia’s high-level participation in the ninth edition held in Yokohama in August 2024.

    President Saïed reaffirmed Tunisia’s determination to expand cooperation with Japan across all sectors, opening the door to promising joint projects. He also expressed appreciation for Ambassador Osuga’s efforts in consolidating nearly seven decades of friendship between the two nations.

    Ambassador Osuga, for his part, emphasized the mutual trust underpinning the partnership and reiterated Japan’s intention to continue and broaden its investments in Tunisia, particularly in the field of infrastructure. He also thanked the Tunisian authorities for the support provided during his tenure, which enabled him to contribute meaningfully to strengthening bilateral ties.
