President Kaïs Saïed received Prime Minister Sarra Zaâfrani Zenzri on the afternoon of December 9 at the Carthage Palace, for a meeting that focused on several national priorities, particularly the functioning of government institutions and public services.
During the meeting, the Head of State reiterated the need for complete coordination within the government team. He underlined that many public services are not operating as they should, noting that some officials “have not yet understood that Tunisia is living a new era in its history, free from the networks of corruption.”
President Saïed emphasized that the State’s objective is not to target individuals but rather to fulfill its national duty to combat corruption and the waste of public funds. He added that “those who corrupted the system in the past are now playing the role of victims, while day after day, the masks are falling.” He insisted that Tunisia needs officials who put the nation above personal interests, remain unwavering in their positions “even if the treasures of the State were placed before them,” and who reject any foreign interference in national affairs.
He further stressed that the only validation needed is the one given by the Tunisian people themselves — when all causes of exclusion and impoverishment are eliminated, and when all corruption networks are dismantled, wherever they may be. “Whoever does not learn from history will certainly learn from what is coming,” he warned.
