President Kaïs Saïed met on December 2 with National Defense Minister Khaled Shili at the Carthage Palace, where they reviewed several key projects overseen by the General Directorate of Military Engineering.
A substantial part of the meeting focused on the Medjerda River clearing project, covering the areas of Battan, El Jedida and Kalaat El Andalous over 91 kilometers, with an initial water flow capacity of 600 m³/second, expected to rise to 800 m³/second.
This large-scale project aims to enhance flood protection and improve hydraulic management in these vulnerable regions.
The President instructed authorities to remove all obstacles and ensure the completion of works as quickly as possible.
The meeting also addressed the progress of the restoration of the Aghlabid Basins in Kairouan, following the full rehabilitation of the historic Aghlabid city walls.
