President Kaïs Saied reaffirmed the state’s determination to completely dismantle the outdated legal framework governing Tunisia’s health sector, during his meeting on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, with Minister of Health Mustapha Ferjani. He described the current framework as the root cause of the “unacceptable situation” facing public healthcare in the country.
Saied stressed that efforts are ongoing to ensure that doctors, paramedical teams and healthcare staff receive all their rights without exception, noting that the system in place for decades has led to the deterioration of healthcare services and a decline in their quality.
He reiterated that access to public healthcare is a fundamental human right that must be guaranteed to all citizens across all regions of the Republic. He pledged to work “without interruption” to stop the ongoing collapse of the sector.
The President referred to the current stage as a “war of liberation on all fronts”, vowing to eradicate corruption networks and those who support them wherever they may be. He affirmed that this battle will continue “with the spirit of a combat soldier,” adding: “We will accept nothing but victory or martyrdom to eliminate inherited dysfunctions and fulfill the people’s aspirations.”
Saied also warned against “those who pretend to be knowledgeable — fake practitioners, charlatans and sorcerers who cause harm rather than good,” asserting that “their corruption has no remedy.”
Finally, he saluted the medical and paramedical workforce, praising their dedication and sacrifices. He affirmed that Tunisia has a renowned medical school with global recognition, recalling the historical role played by Tunisian physicians in the national movement.
