Samir Abid highlights the key role of banks in supporting tunisian exports, especially olive oil and dates

The Minister of Trade and Export Development, Samir Abid, emphasized the crucial role of the banking sector in financing Tunisian exports throughout the year, particularly in light of a record harvest of olive oil and dates, two of the country’s flagship export products and vital pillars of the national economy.

During a meeting held on Wednesday dedicated to discussing export financing mechanisms, the minister called on banks to actively support economic operators at every stage of the export process — from production and processing to promotion and export — to enhance the competitiveness of Tunisian products in global markets and strengthen Tunisia’s image abroad.

Abid noted that the Ministry of Trade and Export Development has launched a national promotional program for key export products, led by olive oil and dates, stressing the need to prioritize production quality and support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to improve their access to international markets.

He also underlined that banks are strategic partners in driving export growth and economic development, urging for stronger cooperation between public and private sectors to ensure continuous export financing throughout the year.
