The Tunisian General Administration of Customs reported the seizure of 6.575 kilograms of cocaine at Tunis-Carthage airport.
As part of the fight against drug smuggling, customs officers at the airport border office thwarted an attempt to traffic a large quantity of cocaine, concealed in the belongings of a foreign passenger arriving from a foreign country.
During a thorough search of her luggage, customs officers found plates of a white substance, suspected to be cocaine, hidden inside 12 pairs of sandals. In addition, an additional quantity of the same substance was found in two plastic bags hidden in a specially designed compartment in one of the passenger’s suitcases.
The total weight of the seized drugs amounts to 6.575 kilograms. A seizure report was drawn up and, after consultation with the public prosecutor, the case was moved to the relevant security services for further investigation.
