Bayern Munich has announced that its young star, Jamal Musiala, has undergone successful surgery following a serious injury sustained during the Club World Cup quarter-final against Paris Saint-Germain, held in the United States.
The injury will keep him off the pitch for an extended period.
In a statement published on its official website, the Bavarian club said: “Jamal Musiala has undergone successful surgery after returning from the Club World Cup in the United States.”
The 22-year-old suffered a fractured fibula along with a dislocation and fracture of the ankle during the quarter-final clash between Bayern Munich and PSG, which led to his substitution at halftime.
Musiala is scheduled to begin his rehabilitation sessions this Tuesday.
He is expected to be out for several months, missing a significant portion of the season with the Bavarian side, the record titleholder in the Bundesliga.
