In an exclusive statement to Tunisie Numérique, Issam Chouchane, the Member of Parliament for the El Hencha constituency (governorate of Sfax), said that the most important achievements in the area include the opening of a local STEG office and a SONEDE branch, as well as the official naming of the local hospital.
Health and local services: restructuring and medical reinforcement
According to the MP, three dispensaries have been restructured, pending the rehabilitation of the structures of all dispensaries in the area.
On the healthcare front, Issam Chouchane also noted that starting in 2026, the inpatient ward (internat) of the local hospital will be reinforced with around six doctors.
Education: seven primary schools renovated and a new secondary school in the pipeline
The MP said that about seven primary schools have been renovated, pending the completion of renovation works for all primary schools in the region.
He added that a new secondary school is being prepared and will bear the name of martyr Kheireddine Ellafi. According to him, the project is expected to see the light soon after the completion of the legal procedures related to the land and property status of the plot.
Issam Chouchane stressed that this future school will help reduce isolation for around five imadas.
Investment: Dokhane industrial zone and expansion in El Hencha
On investment, the MP said that a consulting/engineering office has taken charge of the Dokhane industrial zone project, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2027.
As for the expansion of the El Hencha industrial zone, he said the project has reached its final stages, with works expected to be completed within two months.
Social services: three funds to open in El Hencha
Finally, Issam Chouchane announced the upcoming opening in El Hencha of offices for:
the National Health Insurance Fund (CNAM),
the National Social Security Fund (CNSS),
the National Pension and Social Welfare Fund (CNRPS).
He added that advisers to the Minister of Social Affairs visited the area last week to inspect the premises allocated to these future offices, expressing hope that they will open as soon as possible.
