The city of Sfax will be the stage for a major medical event on May 16 and 17, 2025: the 10th Annual Congress of the Association of Urologists of Sfax (AUS). Held at the Borj Dhiafa Hotel, this important scientific gathering will bring together Tunisian and international experts to discuss the latest advances in urology, with a particular focus on robotic surgery.
This anniversary edition of the AUS promises a rich program of scientific exchanges and technological demonstrations. The congress poster sets the tone: two kidneys in anatomical section overlook a surgical scene assisted by a robotic system, symbolizing the rapid progress in the field. Minimally invasive and robot-assisted surgery, now firmly established in modern hospital practices, will take center stage.
Among the guests of honor, four leading figures in international urological medicine will share their expertise. They are Professor Alexandre De La Taille, Dr. Ludovic Obringer, Professor András Hoznek, and Dr. Frédéric Panthier. Their presentations will cover diverse topics such as prostate cancer treatment, innovations in interventional nephrology, and training young surgeons in robotics.
The Association of Urologists of Sfax, founded to promote scientific excellence and continuous professional development, has established itself as a key player in the Tunisian medical landscape. Through this tenth edition, it confirms its role as a platform for exchange and international outreach. Hosting the event in a vibrant university city like Sfax reflects the desire to root scientific progress in regional areas.
In the context of digital transformation in healthcare, the congress also highlights the importance of new technologies in urological diagnosis and treatment. The robotic surgical system featured on the cover underscores the commitment to integrating the most advanced practices into Tunisian operating rooms.
This congress takes place at a time when Tunisian medicine, facing structural challenges and brain drain, seeks to showcase its talents and strengthen ties with global references. The exchanges expected in Sfax could open the way to new scientific collaborations and enhance local capacities.
With over ten years of existence, the AUS asserts itself not only as a professional association but also as a driver of modernity and knowledge in the service of public health.
