Sfax – Rbadh : Residents Voluntarily Demolish Unsafe Buildings in Coordination with Municipality (Photos)

In a proactive step toward enhancing public safety and reducing risks to pedestrians and local residents, several citizens in the Rbadh district of Sfax have taken the initiative to demolish buildings they own that are at risk of collapsing. The operation was carried out in direct coordination with the Sfax Municipality and the administrator of the Rbadh district.

This initiative is part of a joint effort between local authorities and property owners to address the growing issue of structurally unsound buildings, particularly those that are abandoned or beyond repair. These structures have become a mounting concern for the area’s residents due to the dangers they pose.

The Municipality of Sfax praised the initiative, describing it as a model of civic responsibility and effective cooperation between citizens and the administration. It also urged other property owners in similar situations to respond positively to calls for demolition or restoration, to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of public spaces.

The Rbadh district is one of the historic neighborhoods of Sfax, home to many old buildings that urgently require intervention to protect lives and property before it’s too late.
