Modernisation works in the Oued Chaâbouni industrial zone are progressing steadily, with the development rate now surpassing 50%, according to the correspondent of Tunisienumerique in the governorate of Sfax.
Abdelatif Ben Ayed, Secretary-General of the Oued Chaâbouni Maintenance and Management Consortium, stated that the project’s actual completion has reached 52%, adding that works are expected to be finalised in summer 2026.
A 11-million-dinar project supported by multiple partners
The total cost of the project amounts to 11 million dinars, implemented through a partnership between the Regional Council of Sfax, the Oued Chaâbouni Maintenance and Management Consortium, and a German donation.
This strategic initiative aims to revive the industrial zone and transform it into a driver of economic development for the region.
More than 300 jobs expected
The redevelopment is expected to secure and stimulate over 300 jobs for companies operating within the industrial zone. This should positively impact not only the local economy but also the social conditions of residents in the surrounding area.
Infrastructure development to attract investors
The ongoing works include:
rehabilitating and widening internal roads,creating multiple new access points to improve traffic flow,installing public lighting and other essential services,expanding the industrial zone by integrating adjacent land plots.
This expansion is set to create new opportunities for investment and growth, strengthening the zone’s attractiveness within Sfax’s industrial landscape.
