Speaking with Tunisie Numérique, economic expert Ridha Shkandali hailed the decision to repeal Article 16 of Law No. 54 of 2014 regarding the supplementary finance law of 2014, which criminalizes holding cash amounts equal to or surpassing five thousand dinars without confirming their source. He remarked that this measure is relevant to developed countries that do not suffer significantly from the parallel economy.
Shkandali stressed that this decision will contribute to stimulating economic exchanges for small farmers and small economic players, in addition to its very important social aspects.
He furthermore urged that this measure should be preceded by the activation of what is known as the Financial Inclusion Law to further ease economic activities and exchanges.
