Sharp drop in temperatures and rainfall expected: Winter conditions set in across Tunisia

Tunisia is set to experience significant weather changes in the coming days, marked by a noticeable drop in temperatures along with scattered to locally heavy rainfall, according to the latest weather bulletin issued by the National Institute of Meteorology.

The weather shift is expected to begin from the afternoon of Tuesday, January 6, 2026, with rainfall initially affecting western regions, before gradually spreading to the eastern, northern and central areas. Precipitation may be locally heavy, especially in the far northwest, with estimated amounts ranging between 20 and 40 mm, and possible localized hailstorms.

A significant temperature decline is also forecast starting Wednesday, January 7, 2026. Daytime highs will range between 10 and 14°C, dropping to around 6°C in mountainous areas, while nighttime lows will range between 5 and 8°C, potentially falling to 0–4°C in western regions.

There is also a possibility of light snowfall over southwestern highlands, particularly in mountainous areas of Jendouba, Beja, Kef and Siliana.

Authorities advise the public to exercise caution, especially on roads, and to closely follow official weather updates.
