The Soumoud Flotilla Authority announced that total donations collected in Tunisia to support the expedition aimed at breaking the blockade on Gaza have reached 1.887 million dinars, reaffirming its commitment to full transparency in managing public contributions.
Allocation of Funds: Ship Procurement and Support for Palestinian Children
According to the financial report published on Wednesday, 1.117 million dinars were allocated to the purchase and outfitting of the ships participating in the mission, while 234,000 dinars covered logistical, media and transportation expenses.
Additionally, 505,000 dinars were transferred to the “Save the Children of Palestine” campaign, dedicated to medical and humanitarian assistance. Around 30,000 dinars were used to cover port fees in Tunisia and Italy.
Aid Seized and Oversight Ensuring Financial Transparency
The Authority stated that the material aid loaded on board is currently held by the occupying authorities, while the remaining aid in Tunisia has been handed over to the Tunisian Red Crescent.
It added that the management of donations was supervised by a judicial officer, a lawyer, and a chartered accountant, ensuring transparent handling of all funds. All related documents will be made available to donors.
Fleet Developments: Interceptions, Technical Failures and Immobilized Vessels
Out of the nine ships involved in the Soumoud Flotilla, only three managed to reach the vicinity of Gaza before their crews were intercepted.
The remaining vessels faced the following situations:
- Four ships are immobilized in an Italian port due to technical failures.
- One ship did not receive authorization to join the flotilla.
- One support sailboat remains stuck in Italy.
The Moroccan vessel “Aladdin”, acquired in Tunisia, was unable to continue its route after an unauthorized change of course by its commander, prompting a rescue operation for the crew.
Commitment to Publishing the Report Within Deadline
The Authority recalled that it had announced on October 26 its intention to publish the financial report within 45 days, a commitment that has now been fulfilled to reinforce donor trust and uphold transparency standards.
