Stored for 8 years! : 13.5 tons of spoiled chicken intended for consumption destroyed in Mahdia

The National Food Safety Authority (IFSA) has destroyed a large quantity of spoiled frozen chicken, stored since 2017 and intended for sale in Mahdia’s markets. The quantity destroyed amounts to approximately 13.5 tons.

This operation is part of the Authority’s efforts to protect consumer health and ensure the safety of food products offered for sale.

The destruction took place on the evening of Monday, April 7, 2025, after authorities confirmed that the confiscated goods were unfit for human consumption due to improper storage and excessive shelf life.

Furthermore, the Authority is continuing its intensive control campaigns across all distribution channels and warehouses, to combat any attempt to place spoiled food products on the market, stressing the need for all operators in the sector to scrupulously respect storage and safety standards.
