Surgical activity resumes in ophthalmology in Jendouba

The ophthalmology department at the regional hospital in Jendouba resumed surgical procedures on Saturday, after a hiatus that lasted several years.

More than 25 cataract operations (removal of the “white spot”) were carried out in a single day, following the department’s reinforcement with specialist physicians and in cooperation with the Tunisian Association of Young Ophthalmologists, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.

The resumption, the same source said, represents a tangible step toward improving specialised healthcare services in the region and bringing care closer to citizens, while recognising the skills of young doctors and strengthening the right to equitable, accessible healthcare for all.
