A leading promotional event dedicated to tasting Tunisian olive oil was held in the city of Tabarka, drawing broad participation from a range of stakeholders in the agricultural sector.
According to the Ministry of Tourism, the event brought together four Agricultural Development Groups (GDA), one Mutual Agricultural Services Company (SMSA), as well as three olive oil mills. High-quality products were showcased and presented, reflecting the richness and diversity of Tunisian olive oil, particularly that produced in the region.
The event stood out for the presence of European football teams holding training camps in Tabarka, giving the initiative a strong international and promotional dimension.
This participation, the Ministry of Agriculture added, helped raise awareness of Tunisian olive oil among foreign visitors—representing a real opportunity to enhance the value of the national product and open up new export markets.
Participants were able to discover the various stages of olive oil production, from harvesting to extraction, through presentations highlighting the nutritional qualities and health benefits of extra-virgin olive oil. Tasting sessions were also organized, allowing guests to appreciate the distinctive flavors and quality of the Tunisian product.
The initiative forms part of a broader effort to promote local agricultural products and link them with sports and eco-tourism. In doing so, it helps boost the region’s profile and support the local economy, while strengthening the image of Tunisian olive oil as a high-quality natural product enjoying growing recognition at both regional and international levels.
Participants expressed satisfaction with the event’s success, stressing the importance of continuing to organize such initiatives that bring together agriculture, tourism and sport—while supporting farmers and producers and reinforcing the positioning of Tunisian olive oil in international markets.
