Temperatures Soar to 46°C in Tunisia Today: Scorching Heat and Isolated Thunderstorms Expected

According to the National Institute of Meteorology, Monday, July 14, 2025, will be marked by extreme heat across most regions of Tunisia, with generally clear skies in the morning. However, clouds are expected to build up in the afternoon over the western regions of the north and center, giving rise to isolated thunderstorms accompanied by scattered rainfall, which may extend to some eastern areas later in the day.

Winds will initially blow from the south before gradually shifting to the east. They will be light to moderate but are expected to strengthen somewhat in the afternoon, especially along the eastern coast and in the south during thunderstorm activity.

Sea conditions will vary from slight disturbance along northern coasts to moderate or rough seas elsewhere.

Temperatures will rise significantly, with maximums ranging between 31°C and 37°C along the northern coast and the Sahel. Inland areas will experience even higher temperatures, ranging between 38°C and 44°C, with a peak of 46°C expected in the southwest, under the influence of the chergui, a hot and dry wind.

Authorities urge citizens to take precautionary measures, avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours, and stay well hydrated—especially in inland and southern regions where the heatwave will be most intense.
