A new large-scale solidarity initiative in support of the Palestinian cause is currently in preparation, according to Nabil Channoufi, a member of the International Committee of the Soumoud Flotilla. Speaking on Tuesday to Tunisie Numérique, Channoufi revealed key details about the upcoming mobilization.
He explained that the movement has entered a new phase following the previous Soumoud convoy and flotilla, which had a significant impact on public opinion. According to him, those initiatives benefited the Palestinian cause, sparked widespread debate, and were highly appreciated by the people of Gaza as well as resistance forces.
A larger flotilla and a global land convoy
Channoufi announced preparations for a new Soumoud flotilla scheduled for April, which will be larger in scale, involving more vessels and a higher number of participants. In parallel, a land-based Soumoud convoy is also being organized with the aim of breaking the siege imposed on the Palestinian people.
Unlike previous initiatives, participation will not be limited to the Maghreb region. Instead, the convoy will be global in nature, bringing together participants from all parts of the world, reflecting growing international solidarity with Palestine.
Diplomatic contacts and enhanced coordination
The speaker noted that the preparations are being carried out with greater organization and coordination. The committee has contacted Egyptian embassies in more than 30 countries, receiving several initial positive responses. Organizers were asked to coordinate with the Egyptian Red Crescent to complete the necessary procedures.
According to Channoufi, this initiative could have a positive impact on strengthening relations between participating countries, while also contributing to efforts to lift the blockade. It may also provide an opportunity for Egyptian authorities to demonstrate that they were not responsible for the closure of the Rafah crossing, helping to remove them from the circle of accusations surrounding previous events.
Simultaneous launch and planned route
The land convoy is expected to pass through Algeria and will depart simultaneously with the maritime flotilla. Channoufi confirmed that further details will be announced in the coming days, including specific dates, routes, and participation mechanisms.
