Today… Expected Conclusion of Voting on Finance Bill

Deputy Chairman of the Finance Committee, Abdeljalil Hani, said that a meeting is currently taking place between House SpeakerIbrahim Bouderbala, the heads of parliamentary blocs, and government representatives, aimed at reaching a consensus on the supplemental articles in the 2025 Finance Bill, which have been a point of contention.

Hani pointed out that many of the additional articles proposed by MPs had been voted on during the general session, with some passing, while others were withdrawn to permit the Ministry of Finance to revise them in coordination with the proposing MPs.

He explained that the issue arose from a lack of cooperation between MPs and the government, with the Ministry of Finance drafting the provisions according to its perspective. This, he said, diminished the essence of the MPs’ original proposals.

The disputed provisions include the import of vehicles for people with disabilities, with MPs arguing that the government’s proposed text alters the core of the law. Another contentious article involves increasing the tax deduction rate from the taxable base for retirees’ pensions.

Abdeljalil Hani confirmed that the voting on the Finance Bill is expected to conclude today, with only six additional articles remaining.
