The Regional Committee for Disaster Prevention and Response in Tozeur has adopted a set of preventive measures in anticipation of potential weather disturbances in the coming days. The decisions were announced following a meeting held on Wednesday under the supervision of the governor and attended by all committee members.
The key actions include:
-
continued maintenance of rainwater drainage channels,
-
cleaning and clearing of riverbeds and watercourses,
-
stocking essential supplies such as domestic gas, fuel and food products,
-
enhanced social support for citizens during cold spells and heavy rain,
-
distribution of winter aid packages (blankets, clothing, mattresses) to low-income families, in coordination with the Tunisian Union for Social Solidarity.
The committee also emphasized the need to raise awareness among residents in flood-prone areas and asked the regional Directorate of Infrastructure to urge contractors to speed up the completion of pending works, while ensuring clear signage around construction zones.
