Train Evacuated After Fire Breaks Out on Sousse–Tunis Line

A fire broke out on the morning of Monday, May 19, 2025, in the engine room of an SNCFT train operating the route between Sousse and Tunis, shortly after it passed through Kalaa Kébira station. The incident was reported by Radio Monastir, citing local sources.

Swift Response from Civil Protection Units

Civil protection units were quickly alerted and promptly dispatched to the scene. Thanks to their swift and effective intervention, the blaze was brought under control without any significant human or material losses aboard the train.

Passengers Safely Evacuated

All passengers were safely evacuated at the first signs of the incident. According to the same source, as the train could no longer continue its journey, travelers were asked to wait while alternative transportation was arranged.
