On the occasion of Eid Al-Idha 2025, the Tunisian Ministry of Transport has announced a special transportation plan running from Wednesday, June 4 to Monday, June 9, 2025. Implemented in coordination with national and regional land transport companies, this initiative aims to strengthen transport services and align them with the expected surge in travel demand during the holiday. It focuses on optimizing fleet readiness, reinforcing human resources, and ensuring strict organizational control and monitoring.
Road Transport: Over 4,800 Scheduled Trips
At the level of the National Intercity Transport Company (SNTRI) and the regional transport companies, the government has authorized additional trips across all national routes based on demand.
The plan includes a total of 3,700 regular trips and 1,100 additional trips, marking a 30% increase compared to the standard transport offer.
The breakdown is as follows:
SNTRI Network:
Regular trips: 550
Additional trips: 190
Regional Transport Companies:
Regular trips: 3,150
Additional trips: 910
Furthermore, from Tuesday, June 3 to Thursday, June 5, 2025, an exceptional measure has allowed the regional companies of Nabeul, Kairouan, Kasserine, Bizerte, Béja, Jendouba, and Kef to strengthen services on lines managed by the SNTRI.
Rail Transport: Reinforced Train Services
The National Tunisian Railway Company (SNCFT) has also prepared a special program based on two main components:
The addition of 97 extra carriages to the 169 carriages already in service, and
The scheduling of 17 additional train journeys, supplementing the 72 regular trips.
This effort will provide nearly 20,000 seats during the holiday travel period.
Louage Taxis: Temporary Lifting of Travel Restrictions
For non-scheduled passenger transport, “louage” taxi services have been exceptionally authorized to operate nationwide, without being limited to their usual geographic zones. This applies from June 4 to June 9, 2025.
Nationwide Monitoring and Coordination
To ensure the proper implementation of this plan, the Ministry of Transport has deployed inspection teams to monitor operations at land transport stations, railway stations, and louage terminals across the country.
