The Ministry of Transport has approved the issuance of 40 new licenses for non-regular public transport of passengers (“louage”) in the governorate of Mahdia, according to an announcement made this Friday by Leïla Boualloucha, Head of the Information and Conferences Department at the regional authority.
A Response to Urgent Mobility Needs
This decision follows a proposal submitted by the governor of Mahdia, aimed at alleviating transport difficulties reported across various areas of the region.
According to Boualloucha, 35 of the licenses will cover routes within the governorate (identified by a blue stripe), while 5 licenses will be designated for inter-governorate routes (marked with a red stripe).
Applications Open Until July 30, 2025
Individuals residing in the Mahdia governorate who are interested in obtaining this type of license are invited to submit their applications starting today and until the deadline on July 30, 2025.
A Second Round of Licenses in a Short Timeframe
This new batch of authorizations adds to 80 louage licenses recently granted to the region, following a decision by the Regional Advisory Transport Committee, which officially posted the list of recipients last Thursday.
Through these successive measures, the authorities aim to ease congestion in Mahdia’s public transport network and improve accessibility in underserved areas.
