US President Donald Trump has said that Israel will hand over Gaza to the United States after the fighting is over and the enclave’s population has already resettled elsewhere, which he said meant no US troops would be needed on the ground.
“The Gaza Strip would be turned over to the United States by Israel at the conclusion of fighting,” Trump said on Truth Social. “The Palestinians … would have already resettled in far safer and more beautiful communities, with new modern homes in the region.”
The U.S. would work with other countries on rebuilding Gaza, according to Trump. He also said he wouldn’t send American soldiers to the area.
