On April 22, 2025, the Tunisian Foreign Bank (TFBank), the Tunisian Bank (STB), and GIZ Tunisia forged a strategic partnership around TUNICASH, an innovative money transfer and savings solution aimed at the Tunisian diaspora in France. This initiative, supported by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), seeks to revolutionise cross-border transfers while strengthening financial inclusion in Tunisia.
Developed in collaboration with a Franco-Tunisian fintech, TUNICASH allows Tunisians residing in France to send funds instantly, securely, and at a lower cost to their relatives in Tunisia. But beyond being a simple transfer tool, TUNICASH aims to become a lever for savings, investment, and local economic development.
At the signing ceremony, attended by Dr. Ariane Borgstedt (GIZ), Rachid Batita (STB), and Walid Wahabi (TFBank), the three partners stressed the importance of this tool in modernising banking services for the Tunisian diaspora. “Each transfer becomes an act of commitment,” Dr. Borgstedt stated. The CEO of STB reminded that this system is part of the strategy of a responsible public bank, serving marginalized populations.
TFBank, which has worked in France for several decades and remains a French law bank with Tunisian capital, demonstrates its ability to innovate for its historical clientele: the Tunisian diaspora. “TUNICASH is designed to meet the real needs of our diaspora,” said Walid Wahabi, who sees this partnership as a major turning point in TFBank’s inclusive and digital approach.
A digital finance awareness caravan, driven by the EDMEJ-GIZ project, will soon tour Tunisian regions to inform families benefiting from these transfers about the digital tools available to them. TUNICASH will play a central role, stressing its accessibility, security, and its ability to offer much more than just money transfers: it is an inclusion, investment, and hope tool for a shared future.
Thanks to TFBank, Tunisians in France can now turn a simple transfer into a true act of support for the development of their home country.
Another reason to trust a bank that places its clients at the heart of its priorities, both in France and in Tunisia.
