The Minister of Tourism, Sofiane Tekaya, received on Tuesday at the headquarters of the Ministry of Tourism the members of the DMO Tunis–Carthage (Destination Management Organization), in the presence of several senior ministry officials, the Director General of the Tunisian National Tourist Office (ONTT), as well as the Regional Tourism Commissioner of Tunis.
This meeting is part of the Ministry’s commitment to adopting a participatory approach based on coordination and complementarity in planning and implementation. The stated objective is to strengthen the readiness of the Tunisian destination and consolidate its position as a renewed and competitive cultural destination, in preparation for upcoming milestones, most notably “Tunis Capital of Arab Tourism 2027.”
Review Of Activities And Contribution To The 2027 Program
The session provided an opportunity to review the activities of the DMO Tunis–Carthage and its areas of intervention, covering both animation initiatives and digital actions. Discussions also focused on its contribution to the preparation of the “Tunis Capital of Arab Tourism 2027” program.
Participants stressed the need for proposed activities and initiatives to reflect the historical and architectural depth of the capital, as well as its cultural and tourism richness. The importance of promoting youth potential and projecting a modern, innovative and dynamic image of Tunis was also highlighted, in line with the orientations published on the Ministry’s official Facebook page.
Support For Youth, Startups And Digital Marketing
On this occasion, the Minister emphasized the importance of further supporting the DMO’s work and broadening the base of stakeholders involved. He called for greater inclusion of young people, startups and content creators, particularly in the fields of digital marketing and smart destination promotion.
He also underlined the need to intensify initiatives related to cleanliness and environmental care, which are considered essential levers for improving the experience of both Tunisian and foreign visitors, and for strengthening the sustainable attractiveness of the capital.
