The Municipality of Tunis has urged all café, restaurant, and pastry shop owners to immediately comply with existing health and regulatory requirements, warning that violations could result in administrative and legal action.

In a statement published on its official Facebook page, the municipality emphasized that the move aims to safeguard urban cleanliness, protect public health, and preserve the city’s aesthetic appeal.

Key obligations include signing a formal waste collection agreement with municipal services, ensuring continuous cleanliness around business premises, refraining from improper waste disposal, and strictly adhering to municipal regulations related to public health and environmental protection.

The decision follows a series of night inspection visits conducted by the municipality’s General Inspectorate, accompanied by public health officers, during which several breaches concerning waste management and hygiene standards were identified.

According to municipal authorities, these inspection campaigns are part of an ongoing strategy to strengthen urban cleanliness and enforce compliance among establishments open to the public.
