The Regional Committee for Disaster Prevention and Emergency Response in Tunis held a meeting on Thursday at the governorate headquarters, chaired by Governor Imed Boukhris, to enhance preparations for the upcoming rainy season and expected winter cold waves.
The committee’s recommendations focused on improving coordination among all relevant institutions to ensure citizen protection and secure the availability of essential supplies, including:
-
energy products and domestic gas,
-
food commodities,
-
blankets, warm clothing and mattresses.
Emphasis was also placed on continuous monitoring of market supply, tighter control over distribution channels, and crackdowns on speculation, with strict enforcement of the law in support of the Ministry of Trade and inspection bodies.
Delegates and municipal secretaries-general were urged to intensify field operations, address reported issues promptly, and hold regular meetings of local disaster-prevention committees.
The session highlighted the need to adopt a proactive action plan to better anticipate and mitigate the impacts of potential weather disturbances.
