Following recent climate fluctuations and unusually heavy rainfall, the Governor of Tunis, Imed Boukhris, chaired a working session on Monday evening, February 2, 2026, at the wilaya headquarters. The meeting was attended by delegates from La Goulette, Bab Bhar, and La Marsa, as well as several directors and representatives from relevant municipalities and agencies.
During the session, measures and actions to be taken in affected areas such as Blue Beach and the Old Port were discussed. The governor specifically recommended:
-
Action by the Directorate of Urban Water to evacuate rainwater at Blue Beach and repair damaged sanitation networks.
-
Assessment of integrating the area into projects led by the Agency for Sanitation and Urban Renewal, aimed at rehabilitating informal neighborhoods.
-
Installation of barriers to prevent water surges during high tides in the maritime zone, alongside technical studies carried out in coordination with competent authorities.
-
Rehabilitation of the wall adjacent to Chadhli Zouiten Stadium and acceleration of citywide flood protection projects.
Governor Boukhris emphasized that he is closely monitoring these interventions through periodic meetings with all stakeholders and by establishing a precise timeline for each project, ensuring both prompt execution and the effectiveness of the proposed solutions.
