MP Maher Ketari, a member of the parliamentary Finance Committee, revealed in a statement to Tunisienumerique that the total number of legislative proposals submitted by deputies after the adoption of the amended 2026 Finance Bill has reached 146 proposals.
According to him, this influx of proposals reflects the determination of various parliamentary blocs to introduce new measures or adjust existing ones within the budget.
Minister of Finance requests 24 hours for review
Maher Ketari explained that the Minister of Finance, Mishkat Salama Khaldi, has requested 24 hours to examine the proposed articles and assess their impact on the State’s financial balance.
He quoted her saying that “some of these proposed articles may not belong in the Finance Bill and would instead need to be addressed through ordinary legislation.”
Consolidating similar articles under study
The Finance Committee member added that efforts are underway to combine similar articles to streamline the review process.
“We have asked bloc leaders to work on consolidating similar proposals… in addition to studying the financial implications of these amendments and evaluating the possibility of postponing some of them to next year,” he said.
Ketari recalled that several articles already adopted have significant financial repercussions, which makes it essential to thoroughly assess the new proposals to safeguard the country’s financial stability.
Plenary session to resume at 2:00 p.m.
The MP also confirmed that the plenary session will resume this Monday at 2:00 p.m., as Parliament continues the voting process and examines the pending proposals.
