Tunisia-54% of medical staff in Covid-19 units suffer from psychological disorders

Member of the scientific committee t Covid-19, Nizar Laadhari, talked today on the consequences of the pandemic on the mental health of the medical profession.Laadhari announced the Department of Occupational Medicine has carried an investigation based on 54 people including medical and paramedical officials who have immediate contact with patients admitted to the Covid-19 ward at Charles Nicole Hospital.
Speaking on the airwaves of private radio, he said that the 3-month study revealed that 54% of staff experience psychological fatigue and 35% of them show symptoms of nervous tension. At the conclusion of the research, 15% of the staff were asked to consult psychologists for the required treatment.
In addition, Laadhari emphasised that these results are due to many causes including the increase in the number of infected people and the evolution of the number of deaths.
